About Jillian Zausmer Goldberg Born and raised in Cape Town South Africa, Jillian attended Michaelis School of Art at the University of Cape Town. She studied art education under Stephen De Villiers and taught private and public school art for children for over thirty years. Jillian founded the Gifted and Talented Development Center of Charlotte, North Carolina in 1986. Through innovative summer camps, art schools and outbound arts programming in the Charlotte and Triangle NC areas, the Center served thousands of children, many of whom returned as adults to teach in the program. So many brave and brilliant people before me have succinctly expressed their observations on art and creativity. Here is one by a great hero of the twentieth century, Winston Churchill, the British statesman and Prime Minister, who was also an ardent painter. "Happy are the painters, for they shall not be lonely. Light and colour, peace and hope, will keep them company to the end of the day." Winston Churchill I am grateful to all the artists who have suffered, struggled and persevered in their creative searches , and who have left us works that inspire joy and wonder.
