Jillian completed a very intense summer schedule of teaching, which included managing six weeks of summer camp with her business partner, Lara Visser. They offered half day camps as well as afternoon drawing lessons for children and evening classes for adults, at a location in Apex. In addition to the Laranjillzart business, Jillian offered a week of “Painting with the Masters” at Follow the Child Montessori School, a week of “Drawing Realistic Animals” for grades 6-8 at ArtSpace in downtown Raleigh and seven weekly classes for Portfolio Preparation at ArtSpace for High School students. She offered several afternoon art workshops at Jerry’s Artarama. She also taught a very rewarding class for adults at Reedy Creek Middle School, as part of the Wake Technical College Lifelong Learning program. The course in shading with graphic media was well received, with several of the students remaining in touch and continuing to explore their newfound skills. Lara and Jillian hosted an Art Meetup at the Artists Oasis in Apex, where sixteen art enthusiasts gathered to meet and mingle, share work and tips and enjoy a glass of wine together.

In addition to teaching this summer, she completed filming a series of art lessons for DVD at Burning Oak Studios in Raleigh. The three DVDs will be distributed through Jerry’s Artarama retail stores as well as through their international catalog sales. She also filmed several short, “Free Art Lessons” which are posted online by Jerry’s, on their website and on FaceBook.
The set of instructional DVDs, aimed at the teacher and parent market for children ages four and up, will be available in the Spring.

This fall Jillian teaches adult classes at the Cary Senior Center and the Apex Community Center. Offering include Acrylics for Beginners, Abstract Acrylics, Watercolors, Mixed Media and more.
